Oh.my.goodness.SIGH.

Not in a bad way, but a way not suitable for minors. My sweet stylist of 20 years was on form tonight. First the scalp massage to die for. Then the slightly naughty jokes as she trims away. Add a pinch of simple joking, a dash of sadness on the home front and the zest being with such a friend, and we cooked up 45 minutes of total heaven-on-earth (sorry, food analogies fit better). I could barely keep the car on the road going home, my mind was so blissed out. And now with my screen saver delighting me with a photo of a dear, dear friend that I haven't seen in awhile, I can't even think straight anymore. You have your own thoughts, I'm signing off now with mine...

"God wants me to be rich..."

...supposedly attributable to some televangelist, describing his personal wealth. All well and good. But whom is one serving with all that money: oneself, or others? I think there's at least one Bible verse addressing this issue...

If only...

Ah, yes, if only. Instead, I'll keep selling wheel prototypes because I've been re-inventing it so much lately...

Another fine banding weekend...

Ever get the idea that my best days somehow involve bird banding? Must be telling me something... Another fine weekend, with 18 birds yesterday at Lowry Nature Center and 17 today along the Carver Park horse trail. Below are photos of frequent guest photog Amber, first banding a Northern Cardinal youngster and then with fellow bander and photog Roger capturing some of today's session:

Looking for inspiration...

...apparently in all the wrong places. Suffering through my own personal writing doldrums. We shall see. Perhaps I can start anticipating August in Ramsey Canyon.

On the family front, two #80 birthdays are approaching in September. My father's is September 29, and it looks now like he will make it after the near-death experience noted before. I will say this about both sides of my family, we are fighters. My mother's is September 28, and she wants my sister and I to join her at Naniboujou Lodge for a nice long stay. Of course we've both agreed, so that should be a trip!

Off to work now.

Independence Day thoughts elsewhere

My dad is having surgery this evening after a series of minor heart attacks. This is one of those cases where said surgery will help him immensely or do him in. A fine combo of angioplasty and stent. We shall see; might have to fly to Toronto soon... Otherwise a Happy 4th to all, I will be incommunicado for a few days.
