This is one of those entries for which finding just the right words might not be easy. I suppose one should just go with the stream of consciousness and go with that; we shall see if what I end up saying is truly what I want to say. Away we go!

When one has a song in one's heart, it can be varied as music itself. The one I hold these days is the song of a lifetime, not just a moment. It is a song of joy, of hope, of life's tapestry instead of just individual threads.

This song is a love song, that which I feel for Michelle. She and her family have let me in, allowed me to grow, and more importantly tolerated my mistakes for that growth (the occasional sour note amongst the reverie). I am so blessed to have that love and support, and that of my own family, that will last for all my days. There is no other sensation like it.

On August 20, this song will burst forth in all its radiance. I can't wait!

My Michelle

Not quite one year ago (June 24 actually), I did plight my troth through engagement to a most remarkable woman, Michelle Cook. We are very different, and yet our likes, our hopes and dreams mesh very nicely. In a very real sense, we are two halves of a whole, hopefully becoming greater than our sum. In a more humorous sense, ours is the joining of works by Jane Austen and DP Gumby.

As Michelle has noted, we have experienced each others' darkness, yet we persevere. I want to know this beautiful woman more than anyone before. Her passion for a cause is a marvel. She learns new, complex subjects quickly, an amazing concept to my "one step at a time" mind. Her florid prose and poetry sweetly convey their subject's essence. Her love of nature and caring for the environment shine in every way.

I join the chorus of fine gentlemen who have found their life's mate: "I am the luckiest guy on Earth." Thank you for allowing me in your life, my sweet Michelle! I cannot wait for our August 20 wedding...

Plans, plans, plans...

So many items on the plate, it's hard to know where to begin. Life is kinda crazy but very exciting right now. Examples (definitely not a complete list):

1) Hernia surgery (which was delayed until Feb. 26)...
2) AZ trip with mom and Michelle in May...
3) Marriage to Michelle in August; honeymoon in September (Scotland? Gibraltar? elsewhere?)...
4) House-hunting in Bisbee, AZ right now; land-hunting in CO/WY/MT/ID area soon. The snowbird life awaits...
5) MUST fit bird banding amongst all of that...

Head is spinning from all this, but it's a much more eventful life than ever before. I am so blessed to be sharing all this with Michelle!

Her. Ni. OW!

One week from today I will have surgery to repair an inguinal hernia. Nothing serious, just another sign that I'm not quite the young sprout I used to be. Michelle is being fabulous about all this, and will be helping me to/from the operation. She is a trooper, and I am so lucky to have her in my life!

An amazing time

The words aren't right just yet, so I'm not writing much herein. But the past 11 months (with MANY more to come) of knowing (and 6+ months of engagement to) Michelle Cook have been a very fun, crazy, educational and loving time. As the words come to me I will say more about this incredible, treasured woman who finds it in her heart to love me. I'm still slack-jawed at how this has all transpired; I'm sure that won't stop even after our upcoming August 20 wedding.

More later...
